Why don't they see you right away!

Took a few tests this weekend and all were positive. Called a practice this morning to schedule an appt and they said they don't see patients until 6-7wks past the first day of your last period. Why! I don't want to wait that long!!!!!

Mine saw me right away i had blood work at 4 wks ultrasound at 5wks, 6wks n 7wks i ended up having a miscarriage at 7.5. I regret now going so many times and getting attached. Im preggo again and decided i dont want to see anything until 8 wks when its a lil safer. Most places wont see u til ure 7-8 wks bc if ure gona miscarry early theres nothing they can do anyway.

I being saw the day after I called because I got pregnant on the IUD. High risk I feel they see you ASAP.

I'm freaking too! Will be about 4 weeks Friday. Called the Drs office. They won't see patients until 8-9 weeks. So my appt isn't until November 25....

Ahhh my doctor won't see patients until 9-10 weeks. I don't go until Dec 17th!!! That's so far away. I feel like I went in much earlier for my last baby.

My provider's policy is pretty much the same as others mentioned: intake appointment at 7-8 weeks. However, an OB nurse, not a receptionist, schedules that appointment at 4 weeks (I'm 4wks3dys), conducts a questionnaire at that time, and orders a urine pregnancy test. If you have a history of MCs, are overweight, over 35, or otherwise high risk, they will see you sooner. I went through the process today. My appointment is scheduled for Nov. 16. The nurse also put in prescriptions for prenatals, folate, and stool softeners (I'm already constipated). She told me I can call and speak to a nurse any time before my November appointment. Waiting for my urine test results now, which will give me new HCG numbers (my initial blood test number, 4 days before my expected period, was a 10). I'm anxious, but I understand why they have you wait. And so long as I can call if I have questions or need reassurance, I'm ok.

My doctor told me that she wanted to wait until 7 weeks to see a heartbeat on ultrasound. The heart starts beating between weeks 6-7 so I think they just try to avoid scaring moms without a heartbeat to soon. With my first I went in at 5 weeks and didn't see a heartbeat and freaked out but at 6 weeks he had one. I can't wait till 7 weeks though lol.

I know!!! I am a crazy person too!!! My first appointment isn't until 11/17. Makes me bananas.
