Lexapro, anyone?

Question

Hi! Is anyone else (or has been before) on Lexapro/Escitalopram? How long does it take before you actually start feeling & thinking better? It's my 3rd day on it and I started with 5 mg a day in the morning. I will be on 10 mg after 10 days. But, I still feel absolutely the same, haven't noticed any mood improvements nor any side effects. I know it takes some time for medications to actually kick in but I'm just confused. I really wanna know if it's effective? I have really bad anxiety (health anxiety) & depression. Would want to hear about anybody else's experience on it! Thank you.

They take about 4 weeks to really kick in. You’re starting on a baby dose so yours might take longer, but that’s just how these things go. It’s not a miracle automatic fix, but over time your thoughts will clear and you won’t even notice. I’ve been on Zoloft for about a year now, but I was on lexapro for years before it. It worked wonders for me at first but then it stopped. Everyone is different and this may or may not happen to you. It’s been a journey finding the right med for me. I hope this one works for you! Also, piece of advice: when you first start it might make you sleepy so you take them at night. If you notice it’s keeping you up after a few weeks you can switch to the morning. Good luck! ive been on lexapro for over a year now and i've found it really helped me- it took about a month for it to start working. i'm now on 20mg. 
just make sure you don't skip a day accidentally bc whenever i forget to take it, i feel horrible for the next 3 days!

3 or 4 weeks, I was told. I didn't notice much, but eventually I just stopped crying. Like, I couldn't have if I'd wanted to. My husband said I was like a different person, but I didn't stay on it long. I didn't like having no feelings and didn't feel like me anymore! It did help me get through a very hard me, though, and I hope you start to feel better soon.

I’m sorry I can’t remember what it was like in the beginning but it worked pretty great for me for 5 years. I was on a higher dose. It only stopped working after my baby was born and my hormones changed. Then it was fun finding a new med 😝

hi! I had the same experience as you except I started on 10mg. each month my son for added 10mg so now i’m on 30mg and it’s definitely helping. took about a month to feel it working. everyone is different though🤷🏼‍♀️

Lexapro actually made my mental health worse. It was the only medication that made me want to kill myself and I didn't feel normal. That being said, it really takes a month or two to actually tell if your medication is actually working for you. Make sure you take care of yourself and if you don't feel as if the medication isn't working, let your doctor know!
