Night wakings

Shani

Hello,

So our son was born at 35.5 weeks and spent 2.5 weeks in intensive care due to low birth weight (he was 4 lbs 3 oz) and some difficulties with his blood sugar. He came home at a little less than 5 lbs. he is currently 3.5 months old (2.5 months corrected age) and weighs about 11 lbs. Our doctor has us still waking him at night to feed. At first he was waking anyways, but we are finding we now actually need to wake him (as in he is still sleeping).

Meanwhile, everyone in our family is telling us that we shouldn’t be waking him. They say if we feed him more during the day, we should be letting him sleep. It is a pretty frequent conversation! We don’t want to disregard the doctor’s advice and then have his weight regress.

Has anyone else been in this situation? How did you handle it?

Adding a picture of our son Juan below because he really is adorable! I’m a little obsessed with him...
