Hcg level over 10k and still no heart beat?

Question

Monday my hcg level was 13600, I was 6w 2d, and we got an ultrasound dt some light spotting. Baby was measuring 5w 6d, and we saw a flutter but couldn't get a heart beat.... I stupidly Googled some stuff and read that once your hcg is over 10,000 you should be able to hear a heart beat.... 
Two days later my hcg was around 16500. Still waiting to get the next result back as I know it can take more than 48 hrs to double once you get above 7,000. 
Just looking for some positive stories here. I am so sick all the time, and miserable, and I just want my baby to be okay.

Hcg levels vary for everyone. The range is so incredibly high and large. It really has nothing to do with the development of the baby. It’s about giving it time. At 5-6 weeks, most people aren’t even able to hear or see much of anything at all. So the fact you even saw the heart flutter physically is pretty great. Normally it isn’t large enough though to detect the sound of it until 7-8 weeks on average. Some people might hear it at 6 weeks, but that’s not as common usually.

I’m sure as long as you saw a flutter. I did an ultrasound at 7 weeks and found out it was twins. We couldn’t hear it but definitely could see it. Did they not measure the flutter to confirm that it’s the heartbeat?
