WIC or Food stamps??

I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant and thinking of applying for WIC. I need to leave my job because it’s a high stress job that has horrible management to the point where it would do me better for my mental health to leave rather than stay. I do live with my boyfriend/ father of my baby but we are not married. He makes about $20 an hour but it’s commission based. His salary alone we could probably BARELY scrape by and I can also drive for uber eats on the side until baby is here. Do you think I would qualify for WIC or food stamps if I’m still with the father but have no income? Everytime someone around me mentions WIC they always say to say I’m single but I’m not and I don’t like lying cause of fraud and stuff. I do live in TEXAS. I know every state is different but I’d like some advice from anyone who was in the same boat as me or similar situation

I’m not sure about the differences in Texas, but I’m in California and I applied as single at the instruction of the WIC employee, because even tho my bf at the time and I lived together, we weren’t married yet. We qualified for WIC until we got married.

You don’t have to be single to get approved for WIC, my sister is married and he makes 45,000 a yr and she still got approved. Food stamps is alittlr more strict with yearly income, they ask about the household income which means you would have to provide your bfs income. But it won’t hurt you to apply anyway. You should know that WIC and Foodstamps are completely different then each other. WIC is for baby and mom and you only get cheese, milk,wheat products such as bread, pasta, things like that, you don’t get a bunch of stuff from WIC, like if you breastfeed then your on WIC for 6 months after baby is born but if not or after the 6 months then WIC is just for your baby. Food stamps you pretty much get an allowance each month depending on how many people live in your home and you can go grocery shopping and get whatever food products you want but it’s only  for food not for anything like diapers or formula so that’ssomething to think about but good luck!

Where I am my boyfriend comes to wic appointments with me I’m pretty sure you will qualify just go in and talk to them it’s very easy

Youd get wic. Look up your states requirements for food stamps for a family of 3 and if you are under the income limit after baby is born then apply. Food stamps work for formula too. I always used mine to buy an extra can or 2 when I needed it because wic only covers a certain amount of formula and it wont be enough once baby reaches a certain age.

You probably will qualify for something. Talk to a caseworker when you go to apply. You technically are single as you aren’t married. That isn’t fraud 💗 but let them help you through that. Apply for both. I was always told to apply for everything because the worst that could happen is your denied but the best thing is you are approved for more than you thought you would be!

you would most likely qualify for wic, and it wouldn't hurt to apply for food stamps but since you live and eat together you'll need to file together
