MAX OR MAXIMILIAN?

We will call him max the majority of the time. Dad loves Maximilian and I love just max. Can you ladies help me decide a bit? I’m torn 😫

My nephew goes by max but full name is Maxon. Thought that was a cute different route to go.  Just a thought.

The upside of Maximilian is that it gives him more options when he is older,  Because we shorten long names, but we don't really lengthen a short given name.
