Visitors: when is too soon for non-family visitors?

What's everyone's opinion on out of town visitors? My LO will be 5 weeks on Thursday and we've only had family members visit so far. Now our out of town friends are starting to ask to visit and I'm feeling a little hesitant/nervous.

I agree with Stephanie, as long as they're not sick that you or they know of and wash their hands I don't see how it is any different to family as they could just have easily picked up some germ or bug at the store or at work or the gym or anywhere else. Socialising is good for babies! More new faces to gaze at and voices to listen to! Just as long as they don't get over stimulated - that's a good way to end a visit if you or baby is tired. My friend came over when he was about two weeks and I swear he smiled at her lol, he loved looking at the pretty lady, the little flirt!

Of course, do what you're comfortable with, but if no one is sick and they're washing their hands, baby can be around people.

It's completely up to you of course. What are you worried about? Will they be staying with you? No matter what you have to set boundaries and time limits, make sure they know extended stays are not welcome yet and you won't be hosting THEM, they need to be ready to help you.
