What’s your experience dating firefighters?

I’ve heard rumors regarding dating firefighters and cops, what were your experiences were they good or bad?

they both cheat not all but a good amount. our towns f.f chief cheats on his wife with another f.f’s wife 🤦🏽‍♀️. i know some town business owners & i find out a lot of things about people i don’t even know lol. i guess it’s easy to do when you work long shifts . find yourself someone with a different career . it’s just very common, (sad) but common.

Honestly, most are massive f boys. Don’t get me wrong, awesome personalities but not normally the commitment type.. and their hours are rough. You will always come third - job is number one, “the boys from the station” two and you third. This being said, great as friends/ for a good time

My dad is a firefighter. It’s a lifestyle as much as it is a job. Be ready for long shifts, someone who can’t just clock out when their time is up, and someone whose pager always goes off as dinner is being put down on the table. It’s also a crew of very kind people and you can get the fringe benefit of becoming friends with the crew’s spouses.

My husbands cousin is a firefighter. He's such a good person/guy. His last gf cheated on him so he's taking a break from dating. He takes dating very seriously as he's a very christian man and eventually wants marriage and children. So I'm not sure I'd categorize as a whole. Good luck in the dating scene. 💁

Being a firefighter wife/girlfriend is difficult. You have to be able to be without your partner for days (where I live it’s 3 on 4 off) and she does certain volunteering for natural disasters so if she was ever called she could be gone for weeks at a time. Yes there is lots of cheating. But there’s lots of cheating everywhere. As long as your relationship is strong, you have good communication, and you are okay with being alone for extended periods of time, it’s okay.

First responders are people just like in every other career. There are good ones and bad ones in the relationship department. It’s really a shame to put a label on someone’s ability to be a good partner just because of their job. My husband and I started dating at 20, he became a cop at 23 and is now 27. He is the same wonderful man he always was!

I’m married to a firefighter and he’s the greatest guy, but that doesn’t mean they all are. I don’t think being a firefighter or cop has anything to do with anything - everyone is different no matter their profession. To make a blanket statement like ALL firefighters or ALL cops are good/bad, is naïve.
