Diet change for IVF?

Question

Had my first fertility appt on Monday and I’m wondering if anyone made changes to their diet such as cutting coffee, alcohol, etc? I know it’ll be a while before I start injections and transfer but I want to have the best odds and get pregnant!

I didn’t do anything major. I just cut out coffee and alcohol, and ate more veggies than usual. Drank more water. I also tried my best to stay away from anything stress-related. (sometimes this is easier said than done, I know lol) The IVF journey is stressful in itself, so any extra stress is definitely not needed! :) Good luck on your journey! ❤️ Sending you positive vibes!

Hi Francis 👋 I reduced my coffee to one cup a day( I couldn't quit) haha. I drink a ton of water mainly but also electrolyte water, coconut water and kombucha(probiotics). I'm eating mainly clean with tons of antioxidant rich foods like berries, walnuts, avocado, salmon and add chia seeds to everything. No alcohol. I had a failed IVF prior and I ate whatever I wanted because I didnt want to stress. This time I'm changing  everything just in case. It gives me some sense of control when we really have none lol Hope that helps and good luck to you xo

In general, I eliminated alcohol and coffee (basically just drank water until after retrieval), or anything that could potentially make me sick.  During my first retrieval round I made sure I was upping my game - all organic food, fruits, vegetables, etc. and basically every other potentially positive thing I could sink my teeth into (acupuncture, meditation, staying warm/wearing warm shoes and socks, eating pineapple, and it goes on...)
Personally, after having 3 additional retrievals, this didn’t make a difference in terms of retrieval outcomes (aka number of day 5 embryos).  The major differences in outcomes stemmed from medication changes, but that’s just me🤷‍♀️.   Best of luck to you!

I don’t drink coffee or alcohol anyway, but I do drink soda and my diet is awful—no veggies over here. I did not change my diet and my RE knew about what I ate and that I didn’t exercise. There were no lifestyle changes recommended for the IVF. Obviously now that I’m pregnant there are, like I start seeing a nutritionist tomorrow and I’ll be getting an at home exercise bike, but for IVF he told us to let him worry about it and to go about our lives as normal.
