Do cheaters change?

I saw this and just wanted to share because  it’s so true. Even if your husband or boyfriend or whoever NEVER cheats again or hurts you, YOU and the relationship will never be the same. You will always worry and assume. No amount of therapy or proof will ever make those feelings go away. It hurts, but it’s true. I second guess myself all the time and I hate that I’m so happy now and I cry when I get too happy because then I think “he’s just going to cheat again and this happiness will all go away.” It hurts and I don’t recommend staying with someone that has hurt you so badly. Even if you have children or your married. Trust me, it’s not worth it.

I’m sorry you feel this way, but it can be worth it. I’m not sure if this betrayal is quite fresh for you or if it happened a while ago and you are struggling to move past it, but either way obviously you have been majorly affected by having your trust broken and that really fucking sucks, but it’s not the same for everyone. 
I’d been with my partner for 3 years when he told me that he’d slept with his ex during the first month of our relationship, and although I was absolutely mortified at what he’d done, I was hurt so much more by the time it’s taken for him to come clean. I felt like I’d been tricked and manipulated into falling in love and building a life with someone, and that made me sick to my stomach. I decided to stay, and it wasn’t an easy decision by far but I don’t regret it at all. It took years to rebuild my trust in him, and to be honest, 3 years later it still isn’t fully there. I have bad days where something will instantly put my mind in that place where I felt nothing but anger, betrayal, humiliation, and pain, and there’s no escaping it sometimes, but my partner is very loving, patient, understanding, and reassuring, and we get through it together. I KNOW he would never cheat again, and I fully believe that when he did it was a one time thing. Despite what he did, I know him better than he knows himself, because he’s not that same person anymore. We now have a son together who is amazing and his dad is amazing with him. 
The painful journey we’ve been through together has made us stronger as a couple. Looking back to how I felt 3/2/1 years ago I cannot believe how far we’ve come and how much my trust issues and insecurities have diminished. It’s been hard work but we are finally coming out the other side of it all and I’m so glad I didn’t walk away.

At the end of the day, people will stay if they want or they'll be gone the first time around
But clearly that's not forgiving the other person if you keep allowing the PAST come and deprive your future. In the end you will still suffer if you never forgive 🤷
