Massage in the First Trimester?

Next weekend my hub and I are going out of town for a little weekend honeymoon. The hotel were staying at has a spa so we thought it would be fun to book massages.. my mom told me to check with my doctor first because some people say massages in the first trimester can cause miscarriage? 
Has anyone heard of this? I left a message with my doctor today to get her take.

The place I go to requires the tech to be certified in prenatal massage and won't do it first trimester. I once had it done first trimester (long story) and actually felt pretty sick afterwards, and I'm used to going pretty much monthly. I've heard mixed things. ..some say it's fine, they just don't want you to blame them if you happen to miscarry, others say it stirs up toxins in your body and first trimester when everything is forming its not good

I have heard this. Of course, theres a lot of conflicting information out there, so the only advice I can give is to make sure the spa is aware you are pregnant, especially in early pregnancy. A prenatal massage is different than a regular one. I get massages monthly, and as soon as I found out I was expecting I didn't stop getting them, my therapist (who is prenatal massage certified) just had to make some adjustments.

I never asked my Dr because I was already in my 2nd trimester but my massage therapist won't do the massage unless I'm in the 2nd trimester.

Em I don’t know my husband gave me a personal massage when I was like 6 weeks pregnant and I started spotting like a hour after. Our baby is fine but we don’t do massages anymore lol
