He’s here! Positive induction story

Baby Evan finally arrived on 1/21 at 11:04p. I was exactly 41wks and had been scheduled to be induced at 6 that morning and I was SO disappointed when I called at 5 and got bumped. They said they’d call if something opened up but otherwise to call them at noon.

I was soooo disappointed and figured I wouldn’t go in until the next day. Since my husband and I were already off work we decided to go get sushi for lunch. We went a little early and finished right at noon, so I called the hospital and to my shock they told me I could come in right then!!! Ahhh! We went home to gather our things and got to the hospital about 12:30.

We got all checked in and I was 2cm dilated so we decided to start right off with pitocin. We started at about 2:30 and it took a few hours to rev up but soon I was feeling the contractions. My midwife thought he’d be born that night but I didn’t believe her since our of my previous three kids my shortest labor was 19 hours.

By about 9:30 pm I was really having to vocalize through contractions. My husband was helping by apply counter pressure on my back. It was manageable, but I knew I wanted an epidural and I didn’t want to miss my chance like I had with my last birth. We asked if the anesthesiologist was around and she was - so I requested the epidural at 10p. At that point last we knew I was 4.5cm.

I got the epidural in and was feeling relief when all of a sudden I felt immense pressure. I said “omg either I have to poop or he is coming right now!” I don’t know if the nurses believed me at first but they looked and his head was RIGHT THERE! I felt intense pain and pressure and I knew he was coming. The midwife ran in and I was screaming - she had me reach down and feel his head. In literally half a push he was out! 11:04pm. She was right! I couldn’t believe how fast he came - and he came out screaming.

This was the BEST labor and delivery I’ve ever had and I’m soooo grateful it all went well, and that I got my epidural when I did! Little dude was 8lbs 11oz and 21 inches long. ❤️
