3 wks postpartum. Do I call my ob about mastitis or my primary care physician?

I genuinely don’t know which I should call and I feel stupid asking. 
Also any tips to get rid of this? 
My breast is red and sore, I had flu like symptoms all day yesterday, today’s not as bad as long as I keep up with Tylenol.

Warm compresses, nurse baby as much as they will.  If at all possible, aim baby's nose towards the blockage to help clear it.  You can also take the handle of an electric toothbrush and use it to massage around the blockage to try and break it up.  Nursing is the most effective, even though it sucks and it hurts.  I had one case where I was able to resolve it without medicine and another where I had to get antibiotics.   Definitely contact your OB.  They are much more knowledgeable about mastitis that a PCP.

Either one. For me I’d go to my pcp as my insurance co pay for my pcp is less than my co pay for my OB. Less cost out of pocket for me to go to my pcp.

I personally did not contact any drs when I had it many years ago. I just pumped and tried to nurse as much as I could from the infected breast to unclog the duct(s). It’s a miserable experience for sure. A friend of mine recently had it and went through her OB. They just called her in meds.
