Contractions but no dilation

I'm currently 35 weeks 5 days and I went to L&D last night because I had blood when I wiped and also felt like I was having contractions. I got there and sure enough I was having contractions but they checked my cervix and it was still closed and long but they said it was super soft. They had to have a second nurse to come check me just in case. They discharged me a little while later. Has anyone ever had contractions for days with no change to their cervix then a few weeks later went into labor on there own? I'm so worried im not gonna dilate this go around.
