Avoid getting pregnant

Husband and I aren't ready for kids. Is birth control pills + condoms (+ usually pulling out) a good mixture to avoid pregnancy but still have healthy, regular sex?

EDIT: Yes I know abstinence is the best to avoid pregnancy but I also can't deny my husband lol.
