Does anyone know how preemie development/milestones are?

If my baby is almost a month old but wasn’t even supposed to be born yet would she still be going through growth spurts/milestones, etc. at the same time as a baby born full term? Her paediatrician said they would be delayed compared to babies born full term but by how much? Does anyone know what I should be expecting?

Your baby's milestone are based on their "adjusted age", the age they would be if they were born full-term. My son is 6 months old, but his adjusted age is 4.5 months because he was 6 weeks early.

So my son was born oct 3 at 28 weeks. He is currently 6 weeks adjusted (Monday will be 4 months) so he is in a growth spurt. You calculate by due date!

They are usually caught up around age 2. If your pediatrician isn’t concerned, then I wouldn’t be. My sons pediatrician told us what he’d like baby to be doing by the next appointment each time so we would know what to expect.

My son was born 6 weeks early but his pediatrician gives him an extra 3 months before we are to get concerned over anything. So far, we haven’t had an issue.

They go by adjusted/ corrected age which is the age counted from baby’s expected due date and not birth age.
