Preemie breathing
So my preemie is now 10 weeks old and spent the first couple weeks of her life intubated because she had pulmonary hypertension. The nicu doctors said that she might have issues breathing for a while and to watch her. My family and I take turns sitting up overnight so that someone is always watching her and could take her to the hospital if need be. Well this morning was my turn and I was watching her and she was sleeping perfectly fine and had been for a few hours well she all of the sudden. Woke up screaming her head off and choking. She had a ton of mucous in her throat. I picked her up and she clearly couldn’t breathe. I auctioned her throat and mouth and as soon as I did that she started breathing again but more came up. I spent about three minutes suctioning and wiping her mouth. She’s asleep again now but that was so scary. Does anyone else have a preemie with respiratory issues who had a problem at home? Is this just the beginning and I should take her to the doctor? I plan on calling her pediatrician when they open but I’m so nervous about her now!!
