Delayed bath
I heard of a new concept of delaying baby’s first bath in my breastfeeding class today. I read through the WHO’s recommendations and it states that it is best to wait 24+ hours after baby is born to bathe, but at least 6 if 24 is not possible.
The benefits included better body temperature regulation, lower risk of blood sugar issues, lower risk of bacterial infections, and many added benefits for breastfeeding.
I had never heard of this so I thought I’d share! I also have some additional questions if anyone has done/heard of this before. Would others be able to hold the baby without a bath in the first 24 hours or just the mom/dad? And any additional information or experiences I’d love to hear!
