Been bleeding for 5 months.

Help is this normal on the mini pill? I'm now on my 5th packet and have had constant bleeding/spotting since starting. When I went to doctors for my 3 month check for blood pressure etc she said that it can take a while for body to get used to the hormones and sometimes it doesn't agree with people. When I started my 4th packet I got 16 days with no bleeding or spotting this is the longest ive had. But I've since been bleeding for 15 days with no sign of it stopping yet. How long did it take you to get used to the mini pill? I've read about double dosing for a while but thought that's a bit dangerous. I'm about 144lbs so not massively overweight for the pill not to be effective. It's not always heavy bleeding sometimes it's just brown discharge but I can't go on like this. I can't take any other birth control due to family history.
