What am I in for?

My partner and I have been ttc for six months. Since I’m over 35 it’s time to see my obgyn. I’m wondering if he’s gong to run a bunch of tests or give me medication right away? TIA

I am 36 and had a baby September 2018. Since then I had not had a cycle (due to breastfeeding for 1 year but it should have appears by January 2020). My doctor put me on a hormone replacement and in 10 days my menstrual came.

I went to a fertility specialist and they took thorough bloods to test for everything basically. Then booked me in for a laparoscopy surgery for a biopsy. That’s what’s happened in the first appointment.

I was under 35 when we went to the dr.  But when we first went to my regular ob she took bloods to test my hormone levels and then she suggested a semen analysis ( we had to go somewhere else to have it done, but they sent the results to my dr and she talked us through them).
If it’s an obvious problem like you aren’t ovulating, then your dr may be able to prescribe you drugs.  But unless your dr specializes in fertility they will probably send you somewhere else to come up with a game plan (we ended up doing IVF).

They will tell you to have a blood test done on the second to third day after your period STARTS to test LH. Then they will test mid-cycle to check AMH hormones. Then, depending on those results, they will discuss options. If all looks normal for you, they might ask your partner to get tested. You will not be given any medication until they know what the issue is (if there is one). It could just be your ovulation is not when you think it is. Good luck!
