Conjunctivitis?

My daughters 3 and is in bed sleeping. I checked on her and noticed her eyes are super gunky and green. She also has a very runny nose and a slight cough. Am I right in thinking this is conjunctivitis? Can I just buy over the counter drops to treat it or does she need to see a doctor in the morning? Shes never had it before and I'm not quite sure what to do.

I work at an eye doctor. If it’s an infection it cannot be treated with OTC drops. There’s three different kinds of conjunctivitis- allergic, viral and bacterial. Allergic conjunctivitis will have white/ clear discharge. Viral and bacterial will have green discharge and crusting. She likely has a little virus that she’ll need antibiotic eye drops for. I recommend going to a pediatric ophthalmologist or reg one if they accept babies her age. Make sure you wash her sheets, toys, hands, etc. frequently! Hope she feels better soon!

It could be allergy gunk. I get that when my allergies are bad. 
When she wakes up just wash her eye with a warm washcloth. Try one the counter allergy drops first. If it doesn’t clear up with that, she may need something else.

Look at her eyes in the morning and see if they look pink or red and puffy. If so yeah I’d get her seen by someone.
