Troublesome Behavior
Firstly, I'm a FTM. My son turns 2 in March. Only just recently I noticed a change. I wanna say it started after a doctor's visit about 5 days ago. He'd been sick for a couple weeks and my babysitter brought to my attention this sudden rash. Said his cough was bad and thinks I should take him to the doctor (she's studying to be a pediatrician so I take what she says to heart). After the doc appt, the doctor prescribed some meds. Amoxicillin and prednisolone - an antibiotic and steroid to help treat a sinus infection, along with a nasal spray. I drop him home with the sitter, whom he usually loves over me, but this time he's screaming his head off to stay with me. This, of course, breaks my heart, but have to work. When I come home, everything seems back to normal, but he won't leave my side. I figure it's all because of the cold.
Next couple days, sitter says everything's fine, just the meds are a little difficult to give to him. Now when I come home from work, he seems super clingy or super whiny. We'll usually watch a show, play with cars or books, or I'm giving him snacks because he just woke up from his nap.
Everything seems like a battle now. Not sure if it's typical almost-terrible-2 behavior or it's the meds he's taking making him irritable/moody, as my MIL says. Or maybe it's something completely unrelated?
I show him a toy and it's either he takes it and plays calmly with it and has fun or takes it and throws it across the room crying. I pick him up, he whines.. put him down, he whines.
Before this he was pretty chill, he'd either let us play with him or he'd be ok playing by himself while being supervised.
I'm at a loss, so came here looking to see if anyone had advice or experience this before. If anyone is familiar with the meds prescribed, if this is typical? Or just typical 2 behavior? Or something else?
