Baby shower for 2nd baby?

I didn't really get a baby shower with my first pregnancy. 
People brought me a few gifts during Thanksgiving, but it wasn't actually a "shower" or anything special. Just, "Here you go! We picked up a few things off your registry!" With my bfs family. My family and friends were not involved so this time around, I kind of want an ACTUAL shower. 
We have a majority of baby items, but I just want to celebrate with good food and some pampering for my close friends and relatives.
Is it weird to plan it myself? My family doesn't understand why I want a "second shower" and  when I try to explain it, people say it sounds selfish. 
Anyone else done something similar?

Every baby deserves to be celebrated! We had everything we needed for this babe from the previous, so my friend hosted a Co-ed Baby-Q to enjoy some good food and play games.

We did what I called a Babycue with my second, I didn’t even realize that was a thing lol. I figured if I didn’t call it a baby shower the guys would come too. I didn’t plan the whole thing for my second, a friend volunteered but me and my husband did almost all the work besides the baby game part. It turned out great

I believe that everyone should be able to celebrate every baby regardless of genitals or age gap if they want to. If someone thinks it’s selfish or tacky then don’t invite them- they don’t need to be there. I don’t believe in all the old school etiquette rules. I planned mine with my sil and have no regrets.

If you’re not wanting gifts and are feeding your guests, I really don’t get where they can call you selfish. Even with you asking people to not bring gifts, most people will be more than happy to bring you at least a pack of diapers. Your family sounds like some serious Debbie downers. They can mope at home and miss out on free food during your party then lol.

You can have a baby sprinkle instead of a shower. It’s basically just a party to celebrate the new life you’re growing, and gifts aren’t expected. I wouldn’t even include a registry on your invitation since you already have most of the baby items you need, and say something cute like “Your presence is the best present” or something of that nature, so people can still get a gift if they want, but it’s not expected. It’s also totally fine to plan it and throw it for yourself.
