Induced at 39 weeks?

So my ob told me if I don’t have the baby by the 11th she’s gonna schedule & induction before I hit 40 weeks. they don’t want me to even get to the middle of 39 weeks but didn’t give me a reason why? I always thought you only got induced when you went past 40. I barley turn 38 weeks tomorrow also.

We interviewed a doctor who told me the same thing, simply because I'm in my 30s.  She literally said, "since you are over 30, we will not let you go past 39 weeks."  
"Let" me to past 39??  I thought (but didn't say out loud 🤣), "what if I just don't show up for induction? You gonna come beat down my door?"
But in all seriousness, she didn't care if me and my baby were perfectly healthy, she was going to force me to induce.
Let's just say that hubby and I walked out of the office and have not returned.
We found a doc who is completely comfortable with letting me go into labor naturally, even as late as 41.5 weeks, as long as we are both healthy.

If there is no medical reason for the induction I would refuse. Many inductions fail and lead to c-sections 🙄 do some research on evidenced based birth

You can refuse it if you dont want to be induced. Unless there's a medical reason for it (which they should have discussed with you), some doctors do it for convienence, honestly.

I just read somewhere that 39 weeks is the safest time for an induction.  Wish I could recall where I saw that.

Induction can be the start of a cascade of medical intervention - it should only been done when medically needed! Full term is 37-42, so you're not even overdue till after 42 weeks.
I would talk to your doctors and see why the need to force baby out early if they're fine and happy inside. It can't be an emergency, or they'd be scheduling a C-Section x

I'm getting induced during my 39th week but my ob said it's due to gestational diabetes. You can't be  forced into an induction though. I would ask the reason just to be sure.
I know that a recent study (2018 I think) said that 39 weeks is the safest for an induction though.

I would wait.. you could go into labor at 39 weeks and 1 day! Lol. I've never heard of any harm coming to waiting.. I was 40 weeks and 30 years old when I got induced. My Dr actually wanted me to wait longer but I was over it and just wanted to meet the little buggar who was kicking the crap out of me lol. I wouldn't have opted to be induced at 39 weeks though.
