What type of BC?

Hi ladies, I just recently started becoming sexually active, and I have an appointment tomorrow to get on birth control. I was thinking Nexplanon, but I super scared about the weight gain, mood swings, and acne. What do y’all suggest would be best? And can you give me a run down on how it’s supposed to work? How long does it take to become effective? Etc. thank you!!!

I’ve had Nexplanon for 5 years (currently on the last year with my second implant). The very first time I got it, I did have very mild acne breakouts for a bit, but they eventually went away & now I hardly have breakouts. I do get occasional mood swings, however, they’re typically mild & manageable. So, nothing crazy lol. The weight I gained over the years was honestly due to my own poor eating habits, and I’ve now lost about 65 pounds so far from diet changes & exercise. So, overall, Nexplanon has worked well for me.
