Labor pain management question

So, I haven’t really decided as far as pain management what my game plan is. But I have been talking to my coworkers who have babies and have had the epidural. 1. I have super bad sciatic nerve issues in my back. When I told my OB I was concerned for when I go to have him. She just said, if I get an epidural it wouldn’t matter anyway. But I’ve decided when I go to have my son, I want to be able to move and change positions to where I see fit/ most comfortable for me. And I know with the epidural, that’s not really an option. Of course if the pain is too bad, I’m going to have to have something. But what are some other options and success stories you moms have experienced?
