Toddlers fingernail peeling/falling off?

So my 2 year old had hand foot & mouth disease the week of Christmas. About a week ago I noticed her right pointer finger nail was deteriorating from the cuticle. I called her doctor & she said it’s common after HFMD & to just keep it clean & let it be if it’s not bothering her. She hasn’t complained about it once so I don’t think she’s even noticed it.

Anyways, I just got her out of the bathtub & I noticed her left thumb nail is starting to do the same BUT I can clearly see nail underneath it already. Its like her thumbnail is shedding a layer?

I’m just confused...
