When can I file my newborns nails?

My newborn is 2 weeks old and came out with REALLY long nails and is always wearing mittens because of it. I'm a ftm and was just wondering when I could start .

I've never filed any of my baby's nails. I clipped my most recent babies at 36 hours old with 0 issue.

The easiest way to do it, is to wait till they've been asleep for like 10 mins that way they're really out and then clip them. That way they're not moving the whole time.

I used clippers on my LO’s talons at 2 days old. They were ridiculously long.

Now! I did mine at about a week. She would kill me while nursing! I got one of those electric files on Amazon and it's been one of my favorite purchases!!

Files you can use now, but the nails won’t be hard enough for scissors til around six weeks.
