Should I send a small message?

I had a coffee date today and we just sat and talked by the beach for about 2 hours. Afterwards he said he wanted to hang out some time again. We met on a dating site. He said he doesn’t give out his number so soon, I said that’s fine.
Anyways, should I send a quick message and say I had a good time or should I just wait for him to message me?

I would, I'm not really a believer in waiting for the other person (no matter gender) to start conversation or say thanks etc.

I would wait until tomorrow personally! Just to see if he does say something first lol and that way I don’t seem too forward messaging the same night. But just something short and sweet saying you had a good time and thank you for the fun night.
