Since when was a 17 year old and 19 year old dating bad?

Someone just called me gross for "being an adult and dating a child" and it has 5 likes.. We're literally both seniors, in the same place in life.. Wtf? Like can someone tell me when this became taboo?

It's a 2 year difference at most. I don't see what the issue is. 
17 is over the age of consent in most places, so as long as both parties are being respected and nothing is being pressured, who cares what they say? 
If you're both happy, then that's all that should matter.

Under 18 is a minor and still considered a child. 18 and up is an adult.

Many places the age of consent is 17, and there is a two-year age allowance in most places. So if one of you is 17 and one of you is 19, it’s perfectly legal and there’s nothing wrong with it. It would be different if one of you was 20 because then that goes beyond the two-year limit. ￼
