When to start if you don’t have a period?

My friend hasn’t had a period in months and is startinf birth control for PCOS. The package says to start it on the first day of her period, but if she doesn’t have one coming anytime soon, when should she start?

She can start at any point. She would just need to use a backup method for 7 days before the pill becomes effective.
