Weird Cycle Changes and Can’t Feel Strings
Hi y’all!
I got my Mirena IUD in March of 2017 and it’s been mostly wonderful. I’ve had a few scares of not being able to feel my strings in the past but this time I’m a bit more worried.
I had my IUD placed because my periods were far too irregular and heavy and I was terrible at taking the pill. After the first four months of having it placed, I started to have my period every other month and this last year it’s been every two months. But in December I bled for 6 days (double my normal period) and had some pretty bad cramps (something that was part of the reason I got the IUD in the first place for). However, I actually had a normal GYN appointment in mid-December already planned and she checked the strings and told me it was just a weird cycle month.
But in January, I bled again and this time my cramps were just as bad as they were before my IUD. I got through it, checked my strings after my horrid period and everything felt fine so I just nodded it off as a weird occurrence.
However, I can’t feel my strings as of yesterday and if I were to have a period every month it would have started yesterday. I haven’t had any weird cramps, discharge or anything but I did have sex several times after my period in January (he came in me twice). I guess I’m just asking if I should wait a couple more days before I call for an appointment with my GYN. I just don’t want to over react and suffer through going to the doctors (I hate going to the doctors) but also I don’t want to be in danger of my IUD having gotten expelled or lodged somewhere.
Any advice is welcome and thanks in advance!
