Do I retest?

I’m 7 days late on my period and took a test last week which came back negative. I’m not TTC at the moment but I’m only using condoms (no birth control) as I gave birth 8 months ago. I am looking to TTC again when my little boy is 18 months which is why I didn’t want to go back on the pill. I don’t think I’m pregnant as the test was negative and it’s most likely just due to hormones. But do I still test again or just wait it out?
