Im just going to go ahead and get this out of the way.. I DO NOT have an STI or anything like that.. all is well in that department but lately I’ve had the worst smelling discharge ever along with irregular periods!

So a little backstory. I have the Skyla IUD.. it’s a 3 year IUD and I am on year 2 ☺️ up until recently I haven’t had any issues whatsoever.. I rarely had a period and when I did it was super light and would only last maybe a day and a half..

I started noticing subtle changes around October firstly my periods were coming more frequently... then they were getting heavier, and now they are lasting up to two weeks. Not only that... if I’m not bleeding I’m having brown, smelly discharge. Sometimes it’s dark brown other times it’s light...And let me tell you.. it’s a very noticeable odor.. even to others sometimes. So you can imagine my embarrassment and insecurity

Now before anyone says anything about hygiene... I shower regularly... and I’ve always been very aware of any changes with my lady parts but I’ve never experienced anything like this.

I have a scheduled appointment with my Obgyn.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar experience with an IUD and what remedied it or it any of you have any advice.
