Thick white discharge- am I pregnant??

So my period is now more than a week late and I’m getting worried.

I had some very mild cramp-like pains yesterday but period cramps are usually so painful for me...

Today I got home from work and was met with a lot of thick white discharge in my undies.

Google wasn’t helpful as answers were both:

Yes! Thick white discharge is a sign of pregnancy

And

No, thick white discharge is a sign you’re not pregnant and your period is starting.

Sooooo I’m lost.

I’m gonna take a pregnancy test soon, I’m gonna be totally honest tho, I’m a little in denial that I could be pregnant which is dumb but I’m just scared.

I’m 19 and not ready for a kid, which is why we use BC carefully and keep track of everything. We’ve been very careful but I know there’s still that chance. He’s also worried and said yesterday he’s gonna look into getting snipped because neither of us want to have our own kids- if we do someday we’ll adopt.

Anyways I’m rambling. Help 😭
