Breastmilk and formula mix?

My daughter is 4 months old. She eats roughly 4oz at a time. I exclusively breastfeed but I'm having a hard time keeping up with her demands. I have been wondering though is it possible to mix formula (mix it with water first) and breastmilk together? I was thinking of doing 1-2 oz formula and the rest breastmilk.

I couldn’t produce enough so I did this. Made formula mixed with water first then added breastmilk. Just had to try and give him everything I possibly could.

Yes, you can mix them. Just be sure to mix the formula separate first before adding it to the breastmilk. Also, keep in mind your baby might reject it due to taste depending on how much formula is mixed in since they’ve been getting breastmilk exclusively, so you might have to play around with different ratios. If you want to keep breastfeeding exclusively though it’s important to nurse baby whenever they want and if you’re away from them to pump in place of each bottle

OP here. When I am home I feed on demand and really the only time we give her bottles is when I'm gone. I try to pump 3 times a day. The reason I want to add an ounce or two is so I can start building my freezer supply back up for the times I am gone at work. If that makes sense.

Yes it’s possible but you shouldn’t need to as your body should always be producing enough milk if feeding from the breast and truly feeding on demand :) x

It's definitely possible to mix as you said. Start off slowly (like a 1:4 ratio and build up). 
But if it's your goal to keep breastfeeding know that supplementing is often (not always) the first step to weaning off the breast. 
Do you nurse or pump? Are you looking to increase your supply or have you made up your mind to supplement?

I make a Mason jar in the fridge for days I go to work, all the milk from the day before and then the rest of it I fill with formula 😁 then who ever is home babysitting can just pour a bottle and give it to her.  I did the same thing with my 3rd baby
