Were any c section moms that had group b strep actually treated ? Or did the dr opt out of treatment since baby was being delivered via c section ?

My doctor told me they already provide antibiotics to prevent infection as part of the default c section process and that would treat the strep b.

Like Ana said, the antibiotics used during a C-section do treat GBS.  Unfortunately though, the GBS prophylaxis is only effective for infections in the first week of life.  It doesn’t show any increased benefit for late onset cases (between 1 week and 3 months), kiddos can still get it after they go home.  Sometimes not even from mom.
