I see a lot of ladies getting growth scans and getting estimates on how big baby is and what percentile he/she is in, & I’m wondering how do I get one of those do you have to have like a reason to get one? I just am so curious on how big my baby girl is now! And my doctor said she will do another scan at 36 weeks a quick one to see if baby is head down yet or not but Im wondering if you ladies just asked for one or if for some reason you needed to check baby’s growth ?!

It’s mainly women who are high risk. I haven’t seen our son since 18 weeks for the anatomy scan and my dr said I won’t get another ultrasound unless there’s concern.

Thanks for asking this! I thought I was the only one whose doctor wasn't measuring. I was going to ask her on Friday when I have my appt, I'll still ask and she if she measures, I'm curious.

Most dr request for another scan due to high risk. I’m getting another re-growth scan next week cause my cord is attached to the side of the placenta instead of the middle. The dr wants to see if baby is growing and getting the nutrients.

Yeah I got mine because there was an issue at 20 week ultrasound they wanted to re check. So count your blessings you don’t need another one because that was super scary! Baby was cleared as healthy at 28 week ultrasound so now I won’t have another one!

I'm in the UK on the NHS. I had them on my first pregnancy as my fundal measurements were over 100th centile. They found she was very big so had them every 2 weeks until she was born. With this one, they expected she would follow her sister so booked them in as a precaution and they've just found she's bigger than her sister was so I'm having them fortnightly again. It tends to only be high risk, not as often for big babies I've been told. But they use this to decide when I will be induced as if I go to term, it's looking like she's be over 11lbs!

Even though it sucks, it's good you dont NEED one! That means you have a healthy pregnancy. My stomach measured small so they ordered a grow scan (and all was well)

I just asked for one. No health issues here, it doesn’t take much to check the babies weight... maybe a couple of minutes. Just ask your OB at your next scan. 😊

I'm getting them because my blood pressure is sometimes really high (sometimes normal), so I go every 4 weeks from 24-36 weeks and hopefully will deliver by 40!
