Milk supply dipped a lot!
My OH had a week off work last week so he gave our daughter more expressed frozen milk than we normally would (I’d say I pumped 2 in 3 missed feeds as we went out a lot). I then had a family emergency on Friday that took me away from my OH/daughter all day and well into the evening so I hardly fed or pumped at all that day, I just made sure to pump as soon as I got back home just after midnight.
Since then, my milk supply has seriously plummeted. I was regularly pumping about 1.5 to 2oz a time in addition to feeds - I’m currently getting .25 to .75oz a pump now (even first morning pump) and don’t know what I did so wrong outside of that one day? I can’t go into detail on the family emergency but it’s caused an awful lot of stress, can stress affect your supply?
This has been the case since Saturday. I’ve been offering the breast more (in fact, my daughter has been waking more at night so the feeds have increased anyway) and trying to add in extra pump sessions where I can.
I got some Gatorade and have been eating oats, plenty of water. What else can I do?
My daughter is becoming increasingly fussy during & just after feeds, wanting the breast more frequently and I don’t know if it’s just age/teething (4 months) or if she’s not getting enough milk. Nappy output still seems okay(ish), they’re wet but not majorly heavy so I know she’s getting enough to pee but it feels like less to me (although I feel like I could be imagining it because Im wary)
Any suggestions? I’ve read Fenugreek can be hit & miss and in some cases cause gas so I’m wary of supplements.
