Owlet Smart sock?

Question

Anyone else considering buying one of these?? I’m a FTM and already have anxiety to begin with and I’ve heard these really help new parents settle a bit with worrying about their baby while they sleep. Good reviews/ bad? Anyone bought one of these before?

My son was in the nicu for inhaling amniotic fluid causing a collapsed lung. Right away was going to jump and get one and all the nurses and his doctor told me do not get it! Gives you a sense of false security trusting a devise to assure your baby is ok instead of getting up and checking and being able to react right away￼

It’s a waste of money. The AAP recommends against them because they may cause more harm than good. Also none of those sleep sock monitors are approved by the fda to prevent sids.

My friends got something similar. Not sure if it was the sock or something around the hand or whatever. 
Just be aware it will go off if the baby moves a certain way and not neccesarily because there is something wrong. And it probably wont help with anxiety. Just sort of feed into your anxiety honestly. 
I mean it seems like a cool device, but don't expect it to help with anxiety or rely on it to be 100% correct all the time.

My friend had one and it gave her more scares then anything cause it moved or something happened and it alarmed that something was wrong with baby and really it wasn't. The sock just got out of place.

I will be buying one for this baby! Even if there are false alarms, I’d rather be alarmed and it be nothing then not have it to alarm me if something is wrong🤷🏻‍♀️

I had one. It was a saving grace. I didn’t fully rely on it. It was more of a extra safety net. I will say it helps depending on the situation. My son got sick around 6 months and we had taken him to the ER earlier that day but we were sent home due to it not being serious. That night his oxygen levels dropped. I wouldn’t have know without the sock. We took him back and he was put on oxygen for the night. They thought he had a very mild case of RSV and that’s what caused it. Regardless, people are going to tell you horror stories and good stories. Yes it’s also not recommended by AAP but honestly I think it was a good investment.

It burnt my baby’s foot. We also got a lot of “disconnected” notifications which was a loud song playing that would wake us all up. I would not recommend.

I’ve heard it tends to set off false alarms if the sock isn’t on right. Personally I’d rather false alarms than no sock at all though. I do plan to purchase it.
