To sweep or not to sweep? Lol

Really undecided. I’m 41+3 and not much is happening at all. Few twinges here and there but not had BH or any sort of contractions since Monday.
I am booked for a sweep at my routine apt, but really reconsidering. I hate examinations and this week I’ve already had to go for a swab, plus due to be induced Saturday so will of course be poked and prodded throughout that process too.
What are everyone else’s experiences? Would you recommend? Lots of my friends say it was ineffective and painful but equally other people say it was worth it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for all your input! I decided to go for the sweep and it was very uncomfortable, but she says my cervix was favourable and thinks I will go into labour naturally before my induction on Saturday. So fingers crossed ☺️ ive not had any bleeding or real cramps since the sweep... but just feel a little bit sore and uncomfortable.

I’ve had two they didn’t hurt one bit. But have not been successful. Just remember that to induce generally they will have to put something up your cervix firstly. So you may as well try the sweep because it’s something entering your cervix either way x

For me it worked! I got it at 9 pm and my labor started at 1 am! I’d try... induction is harder!

I am overdue and I’m getting a sweeptoday. I was induced with my first at 42 weeks and it was not the best experience. My second was born all natural after I sweep at 40 weeks so I’m hoping this time around this week will work like it did with my second. I really don’t remember it being uncomfortable or painful when I had it done last time. In all honesty I’d rather a little extra poking and prodding now if it means no induction￼

I had it done with my first from 38 week until 40 it didn’t do nothing for me I went into labor at 41 the same day I was set to be induced

I'm FTM and had one done at 39+4 and again at 40+4, both times I was only 1cm dilated with cervix very high buy it didn't hurt me, just a brief bit of pressure. Neither worked but I thought I might as well give it a go as I really wanted to avoid being induced so I at least felt I'd tried everything that I could to get him to arrive naturally. I'm being induced tomorrow afternoon at 41 weeks as he's still showing zero signs of wanting to make his own way!
