Have we been doing it wrong all along? Baby just turned 3 months old and we bounce him to sleep in our arms. Should we not have been doing that?

I fed my first to sleep till he was 18 mos and now at 3 he sleeps through the night 12+ hours. It’s fine. I’ve fed/bounced my second for 9 mos now and he also sleeps through he night in his own crib for 12-14hrs per night.  
A lot of that stuff is fearmongering. Do what works best for your baby and your own mental health

There’s no rules. Do what works for you. I rock my son to sleep every night and it doesn’t bother me because I love that time together.

I was told to put her in the crib when she's drowsy but honestly that rarely works for us. I just rock her to sleep.

We rocked my son to sleep for the first year and won’t be doing that again. It got to the point he would wake up a lot and never go back to sleep without the process all over again. That’s just what happened with us.

As everyone else has said, do whatever works best for you and baby! The pros of laying them down drowsy but awake is they learn to fall asleep on their own so when they wake up between sleep cycles they can fall back asleep instead of crying (they remember falling asleep in their bed instead of your arms). BUT...my 3 month old will NOT fall asleep on his own unless it's night time. No matter how drowsy he is when I lay him down during the day he will fuss for 5 minutes or so and start crying. So do whatever you've gotta do!

I rocked my son to sleep basically until I couldn’t anymore. He would sleep anywhere if I “shushed” him & rocked, there were times he napped in my arms, but always overnight in his bed. He also has slept through the night since 6 weeks old in his own room. He’s 2.5 & now he just likes a cuddle before bed & off he goes. Do whatever you think is best.

Do what works. My mom swore by rocking us to sleep because she could get us to go to sleep anywhere and if we were tired we would just pass out. I plan to do the same when baby arrives

You do whatever works best! I rocked my baby in my arms too, and he still does like being rocked! lol He just turned one! Sometimes though he does fall asleep on his own. 😊
