Birth plans

I kept my birth plan super simple. I dont do well with pain and knew I would want an epidural. I got admitted at 5cm and 90% effaced still not in active labor. They wanted to break my water to speed up labor. Well I watched my cousin go through that after about 24 hours into her induction. She came in not dilated at all and then got her water broken at 5cm. She went from totally fine to punching her bed in pain begging for the epidural.

My birth plan: epidural before breaking my water and delayed cord cutting(which is typical practice anyways unless something is wrong).

So glad I they let me get my epidural first even though it didnt totally work and due to being on oxytocin for the previous 12ish hours my contractions were back to back. I didnt feel them hardly at all until my water broke. My epidural didnt take in my vagina or on my left side. So I did end up feeling a lot of pain but my nurse got the anaestiologist back in and give me more meds in my epidural and move my bed into a sitting position. It finally took the edge off after about 30-45 minutes in tears from pain. I progressed from 5cm to 9cm in that time frame. But without that epidural I would have probably been screaming.
