First appointment isn’t until I’m 11+ weeks??

Hi all

I’m in the UK and seeing a doctor or midwife is so bloody hard. Anyway I finally rang up and asked to book in my first appointment with the midwife (standard practice in the UK) and the receptionist booked me in for when I’m 11 plus weeks. I’m worried that I need some care before this. Isn’t there a blood test for something before this? If anyone can shed any light? It also means I won’t get my scan booked in until after 12 weeks???
