Work and Pregnancy
Anyone else being treated like a criminal at work for being pregnant? If I have any sort of problem with my pregnancy or illness due to pregnancy I am interrogated by the head of HR. For example I had a rash early in the second trimester and the chemist recommended that I go to the doctor just in case it was related to liver problems. The appointment meant missing part of a working day and then I was put in for immediate bloods the next day which meant missing part of the next working day as well. Head of HR took me into a room before me bloods appointment and asked if she could see my rash. I assume this was so that she could see the proof. She said “obviously I don’t expect you to pull your trousers down but is there anywhere else on your body you could show me this “rash”?”. I’m left feeling like a criminal and that I’m doing something wrong by being pregnant. Off all the things I’ve suffered with through pregnancy, being treated this way has had much more of a negative affect on me.
