Why, why, why ... rant??

Ayla

This may be a long story, but I need to get it out.

I am currently 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant, but let’s start with a little back story.

I had a daughter in 2016, she was brought into this world on her due date via c-section, doctors gave me no other choice even though I kept telling them I wanted a natural birth.

She was measuring over the 100th percentile, from pretty much the first ultrasound. By the time I was 39 weeks and a couple days, they estimated her to be over 10lb and she had not dropped yet.

She was born July 8th, 9lb 10oz, 21 3/4” and completely perfect.

Q pregnancy number two, completely different then the first. However still measuring bigger than “normal” at around an overall 85th percentile. Again hoping for a natural birth!!!

At this point I have seen 7 different doctors (not by my choice!!) in two different towns, yay small town living.

The obgyn I saw with my last pregnancy, is the one I have again this time and she once again is trying to get me to go for a c-section. I told her I want to try for a vback, she said she would support me but that we should start stripping membranes at 38 weeks and induce by 40 weeks.

Everything had been going well since winning the fight with bronchitis at 36 weeks.

Feb 1st rolls around, we wake up and my husband goes to turn on the coffee and says .... ummm ... our kitchen is flooded !!! We are on well water which we don’t drink so we have the 5 gallons bottles and a dispenser, which is what busted with a brand new bottle on it.

Luckily my husband is a contractor and the kitchen is one of the only rooms we have not yet renovated in our new home. So we mop up all the water and I head down stairs to check my office which is directly below the kitchen and of course it also got a bunch of water. So I mop up downstairs, my husband calls our insurance company and they give us the go ahead to pull up the soaked laminate from the kitchen.

As soon as we see this lino we know we could have a bigger problem ... asbestos. Now we have to deal with a remediation company ...

The next day a crew comes in to remove the rest of the laminate flooring in the kitchen and my office as well as some of the drywall. Now we wait for the samples they took to be tested.

Three days later I was scheduled to get my first membrane sweep, and god knows I want this baby out, but now I also don’t cus my house is in shambles. All I can picture is going into labour while the remediation crew is working away ... so much for being able to relax in my own space. Turns out my cervix was closed and high but soft ... I did however start getting quite a few Braxton Hicks, I think.. never once experienced one with my first so I wasn’t sure.

The very next day, my daughter comes home sick, and one day later her dad and I get it😢

Then the test results for the floor came back and as luck would have it, it requires a level 3 ebatement ... which is like full quarantine of that room, everything gets removed including my entire kitchen and they have to set up showers and such to clean off once they come out of the room. Then they have to clean the air for a few days till it’s safe. All during which we can’t be in the house ... also we have no idea when this may happen.

In the midst of all this I realize my puppy is about to come into her first heat and I have not managed to get her an appointment to get spayed in time ... so now I get to try and keep her diapered and away from my neighbours unfixed male, just what I needed.

Welcome to today, feb 15, 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Dealing with a bored and sick 3 year old, a man child, a bleeding dog, and a wicked phlegmy cough and head cold. I think the coughing is making me have more contractions cus my belly keeps going rock hard throughout the day.

My current worries:

1. Baby coming while we are all still sick

2. Not having progressed by Tuesday when I get my next sweep.

3. Having an ebatement with a newborn

4. Having no kitchen

5. Having to be induced

6. Having another c-section

Yet as much as I want my body back, and even though I’m sick, I still feel pretty good, and super excited to meet my little man!
