Does polyamory work? I've seen it fail a few times over. I'm casually seeing a guy who also wants to date other people. I'm not sure if I can do this but I also think I could have learned possessiveness and maybe that's unhealthy.

My bf and i were in an open relationship. It kind of forced us to communicate more, which was a previous issue for us. We also took more time to show one another that we were special. It worked for us. I guess it worked too good because now we are back on our monogamous train and still practice the Same things. But again, we are in a serious relationship and trust one another. I wouldn’t recommend doing it with someone I’m just messing around with. That leads to messiness

Yes, polyamory can fail, but so can monogamy. If you think about it, monogamy theoretically fails more often because how many relationships are people in throughout their entire life that end before finding "the one"? My husband and I are polyamorous. Communication is HUGE! Unlearning a lot of societal monogamy is difficult, but it is possible. There are a lot of good books out there. More Than Two and The Ethical Slut are both great.
