Would you try a doula?

At my last visit my midwife mentioned a doula to me! I wanted to get you ladies opinion. This is our second baby, our first I stuck with an OB. This time I’ve chosen a midwife and love it so far. Should I try a doula too? I guess I should research doulas more and get an idea of if I really need one. I just wanted to know if any of you ladies have any experience with a doula and how was it? My midwife said she’ll have a list for me at my next visit! By the way I don’t think insurance covers doulas.

I'm trying a doula this time! My first was hospital birth and I was induced (HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE) My second I had a wonderful water birth at a birthing center and this time I plan the same but with a doula also 💙💙💙

My old coworker was a doula... she became one because she didn’t use one for her first child, but did for her second and third. She said that it changed her entire delivery and she thinks it’s powerful to have a doula there with you. 
I’m not sure I’ll use one this time (FTM). I’m super comfortable with the whole team at my OB office. 
My mom and husband will both be at the hospital. If anything goes wrong, my husband is to stay with baby and make all decisions about her, and my mom is to stay with me and make all decisions about me. That’s the big benefit of a doula from what I understand, they’re there for mama, while everybody else is usually focused on baby.

Warning! Long comment on why I hired a doula!
 They're like professional and educated sidekicks. My doulas package includes 4 prenatel visits, birth, and 4 postpartum visits (at home). In one prenatel we will discuss my pregnancy health physical and emotional. In another we will discuss birth classes and birth education! They will give me a rundown of options and discuss what interests me. The other we will discuss birth plan and they will actually help you write a birth plan. They are birth professionals that want to help you achieve your vision for your birth in a realistic and tangible way. All these prenatel appointment are 2 hours long. This really interests me because I dont want to just have a 15 minute appointment with an ob and then get all my other questions answered online. I want someone on my team who is in that world and not trying to sell me anything or have an agenda of getting me through fast. In addition, babies have their first wellness check at 3 days old. You wont get yours until 3-6 weeks on average. Often by that time you've googled everything and heard its ALL normal.. but probably have suffered a lot unnecessarily. And might never even know it. My doula has 3 post partum visits that are all about processing my birth, how is feeding, going to the bathroom, sleeping, emotions and way more going? They also have more custom fields. For example  my husband will forget to function when I'm in labor. I handed the responsibility to my doula to make sure he's getting food and water.
While doulas arent covered by insurance, most have payment plans or even sliding scales according to your income. You might also consider contacting a doula school and interviewing student doulas. They need to attend x amount of births (dependent on state) before they can graduate. This is often a great option for people who are on the fence because of the cost.

I had a double for my first pregnancy. I don’t feel like I needed her. She came to my house and we did classes and she was there at birth but I connected with a nurse more and focused on what she was telling me while in labor. 
Second pregnancy no doula and once again connected to one of my nurses the most. 
Planning same thing for this pregnancy.
