What does what they were doing mean??

My daughter is 16 and her boyfriend is 17. I went to pick my daughter up from practice since her car is in the shop and I saw her sitting with her boyfriend on one of the benches. Her leg was draped over his and he was rubbing her thigh. The both of them were smiling and staring deeply at each other then they'd lean in to whisper in one another's ear and either one would bite their lip or blush. I honked my horn and my daughter waved bye and got in my car. I asked her if he needs a ride and she said no he's staying for some debate team meeting. Then I asked her what they were doing & explained what I saw and she said just telling jokes. I said okay well don't let him feel on you like that again and she said okay. But I call bs on they were telling jokes?! Or am I overreacting
