11 year old daughter being recorded by teacher

Is this something you would be okay with as a parent?

A little back story. My daughter is 11 years old. She’s a very pretty little thing and apparently is very popular at her school. I only know this because during conferences, teachers have told me that she can sometimes get distracted during class because everyone wants to talk to her and she lets herself be distracted. She’s been told to try to use her popularity for good. “Make doing your school work cool!” That type of thing. So with that being said, she’s an all around good kid for the most part. Yeah, she’s some issues here and there at school, but nothing major.

However... there is a certain teacher (who is not my daughter’s teacher for ANY class whatsoever) who has been caught recording my daughter with her personal cell phone. She is female and seems to not like my daughter at all for some reason. When my daughter told me this, I immediately went to her teacher and voiced my concern. Her teacher then went directly to the principal who stated “I will allow my teachers to record students to show them what is and what is NOT the Hawthorne way.” I asked my daughter if these videos were ever shown to her after the fact to show her what she should or should not be doing and my daughter said no.

I’m extremely uncomfortable with this, but my ex husband and his wife called me a drama queen for being weirded out by this whole situation and for wanting to go above the principal and voice my concern with the school district superintendent.

So my questions are, am I crazy? Or do I have the right to be worried about this??

(Also, my worries became worse after finding out a middle school principal in my state was just convicted of child sex trafficking. 😳😳😳😞)
